What is Transport?
Transport assistance is NDIS support to get where you need to go, safely and on time. Our support workers can drive you or travel with you, door to door, with someone you know.
If becoming a more independent traveller is one of your goals, we’ll work on it together: planning journeys, practising routes and building the skills and confidence to use public transport on your own.
What we can help with
- Transport to and from medical and therapy appointments.
- Travel to school, training, work and day programs.
- Getting to social activities, sport and community events.
- Support with shopping trips and errands.
- Travel training to build independence on public transport.
Who is it for?
Transport support suits participants who can’t use public transport independently, or who need a hand getting to appointments, work, study or community activities. It works on its own or alongside your other supports.
Where we provide it
We provide Transport across Adelaide, including the northern suburbs, north east, CBD and inner north, western suburbs, southern suburbs and the Adelaide Hills. See the full list of areas we service.
Your Transport questions answered
There are two main ways: a transport allowance paid directly to some participants who can’t use public transport (funded at one of three levels), and activity-based transport, where travel with a support worker during a shift is billed through your Core supports, usually including a per-kilometre vehicle charge. We’ll explain clearly how it works with your plan before we start.
Yes. If a worker is already supporting you, for example with community access, the travel to and from that activity is simply part of the support.
Tell our intake team about your equipment and access needs when you enquire and we’ll make sure the vehicle, worker and route are right for you before your first trip.

Why choose Authentic Care?
- You pick your team. Meet your support worker for free before any shift starts, and if the fit isn’t right, we swap. No questions.
- We answer our phone. Calls and emails returned within one business day, and our on call line is staffed every night of the year.
- Local and independent. We’re a locally owned, registered NDIS provider based in Adelaide, not a national call centre.
- Everyone stays in the loop. Weekly email updates keep you, your family and your coordinator on the same page.
